"I am delighted to endorse the excellent work of Sporting
Chance International in equipping so many of our young people
to be able to play organised sports, especially football. We
continue to welcome any donation of kits and sports equipment
to our needy youth."

    Selecting recipients

The board of trustees in Kenya are responsible for the selection of school and clubs. SCI recognises that it is best for those with local knowledge to do this important task. There is never enough kit to meet the vast needs or the where with all to send it.

It has taken a number of years to ensure that gifts of uniforms (as the Kenyans would say) are put to the most effective use. Rarely is a set of kit worn by one team. Schools and clubs will share amongst many boys and girls and for more than just football. A set of kit is a treasured possession. Few are able to afford such luxuries. Most sets last for a number of years; such is the care from the fortunate recipients.

How does it work?
When SCI holds tournaments kits are presented to the semi finalists. This is their trophy. The football academy uses a number of sets. Schools that we visit are regularly given a set of kit. This fosters a partnership for visits by gap year students in the future. The photo shows Peter Kibukosya Primary School receiving kit. This is the home of the SCI football academy.

When SCI receives kit for other sports, for example, rugby, a special effort is made to find a school where they have none.
