Partnerships - Cornwall Therapy and Fitness

In 2003 it was decided to convert a rarely used building at Hayle Community School, originally a bike shed. The vision was to create a fitness suite that would be available to the whole community. Sporting Chance International took on the planning, selecting and construction of the equipment as a part of its charitable work. In 2004, during a student activities week SCI organised a sponsored half marathon where all Key Stage 3 pupils ran in teams around the school track. A rowing machine was donated from the funds raised.

The gym is now a successful, lively fitness centre, and true to the vision, it is frequented by a wide cross section of the community.

Adrian Edwards is the company director and former coach to the Cornish Pirates. The company has refurbished the gym with additional training machines providing a welcoming and enjoyable place to train and keep-fit. Adrian has visited Kenya for rugby coaching and is fully aware of the value of the work of SCI. We are grateful for the interest and support of the company.
